First Look: Pequignet Royale Paris 39.5mm Power Reserve–Small Seconds
Pequignet revives its flagship Royale Paris line with a refined 39.5mm case, combining French craftsmanship with elegant, modern design. Made in France, this new edition stands out with a compact form, improved textures, and sleek detailing.
Founded in 1973 near the Swiss border, Pequignet overcame early struggles to become a true French manufacture by launching its in-house Royal calibre in 2011. Since being acquired by Enowe Excellence in 2021, the brand has been steadily re-establishing itself in the haute horlogerie space.
The updated Royale Paris boasts a stainless steel case with polished and brushed finishes, individually crafted lugs, and a slim bezel that enhances the dial’s openness. Its domed sapphire crystal reveals a finely decorated dial available in silver opaline or navy blue, featuring layered textures, faceted indices, and a circular trench separating the center from the minute track.
Elegant complications include a minimalist power reserve indicator with a red warning zone and a snailed small seconds subdial. The only luminescent elements are the hour and minute hands, now treated with blue Super-LumiNova. Branding has been toned down for a cleaner aesthetic.
The caseback showcases the in-house automatic Royal movement with 318 components, an 8-patent design, 96-hour power reserve, and chronometric accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day. Finishing includes Geneva stripes, perlage, and a decorated rotor with sunburst detailing.
The watch features a user-friendly strap change system. The opaline model comes with alligator leather straps, while the blue dial variant pairs with a Cordura nylon strap. A stainless steel bracelet option is set to launch later this year.
