First look: Louis Erard Regulator showcases flinqué-inspired layered dial artistry
The new Regulator Esprit Flinqué by Louis Erard showcases a fresh interpretation of
traditional decorative artistry through a modern lens. Under the leadership of Manuel Emch,
the brand continues to challenge conventions by making artisanal craftsmanship more
accessible, blending creativity with contemporary watch design. This latest release draws
inspiration from the intricate flinqué enamel technique, known for combining engraved metal
patterns with translucent finishes.

Built on the signature Regulator layout, the watch features a distinctive display where hours,
minutes, and seconds are separated across individual axes. The Esprit Flinqué elevates this
concept further with a multi-layered dial construction. At its base lies a finely fluted surface
that radiates outward, creating depth and texture. Above this, skeletonised sub-dials for
hours and seconds add a dynamic visual element, marking a first for the brand. The minutes
are displayed on a prominent upper counter, indicated by Louis Erard’s recognizable fir-tree
hand, while subtle white numerals ensure clarity.
The dial’s design cleverly mimics the visual richness of flinqué enamel, with light-catching
ridges and contrasting tones available in blue or grey variations. Notably, the dial remains
minimal, free from branding, emphasizing pure design and craftsmanship.

Encased in a polished 39mm stainless steel body, the watch balances elegance with
presence. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the transparent caseback
reveals the manual-winding Sellita movement inside. Paired with refined calfskin straps and
produced in a limited run of just 99 pieces per color, the Esprit Flinqué stands as a
compelling fusion of heritage artistry and modern watchmaking innovation.
